Foothill Learning Academy does not require parents to be in the classroom. Classes are taught by passionate, professional educators who do not require parent classroom participation. However, parents are responsible for knowing and complying with their student’s charter school requirements regarding parent/guardian attendance during enrichment/supplemental classes.
Student Supervision - Volunteer Requirement
To ensure students are adequately supervised during the day, parents are asked to volunteer for one 3-hour shift during the semester. Parent volunteers work in pairs to provide supervision when students are outside of the classroom, at lunch, on break, or in the hallways.
If you are unable to volunteer, you can have a friend or family member volunteer for you. If this is not possible, a $30 per family opt-out fee is requested to hire supervision. The opt-out fee increases to $50 after the first day of classes, and "no-shows" for scheduled volunteer shifts will also be charged $50.
Foothill Learning Academy is not a school and does not provide staff for student supervision.
