BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Laura Chiappe

Laurie, an attorney by trade, has a long history of giving back to the community through service on 501(c)(3) non-profit boards, including Las Maderes (supporting of new parents) and 3Strands Global (combating human trafficking). She currently serves on the Board of Trustees at William Jessup University.  Professionally, she left the practice of law in 1998 and became a middle school history teacher. She taught in a private K-8 Bay Area school until her family relocated to El Dorado Hills in 2012, where she began the HISTORY Rocks! small group history enrichment program for homeschool families. Laurie holds a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Political Science (including all course work necessary for a Single Subject History Teaching Credential) and a post graduate Juris Doctor Degree. She also is a member of the California State Bar and has an ACSI Teaching Certification.

Mary Frederick

Mary is a wife, mother, and teacher who is passionate about writing and loves to share that passion with her students. She has over twenty-five years experience teaching kids to become excellent writers in a variety of environments. She has worked as a classroom teacher in both elementary and middle school, tutored students at all different grade levels, and helped develop curriculum for an online ESL writing tutorial. She holds a B.S. degree in Human Development and Education, a minor in English, a valid CA Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and a Supplementary English Credential. In 2009, Mary developed Write On!, a business born out of her desire for clear, concrete, and engaging writing curriculum that not only focused on the writing process, but instilled a love for the art of writing in her students.

Cris Bollengier

Cris has a Master’s Degree in Special Education from San Francisco State University.  She also holds a current Special Education Teaching Credential.  She started her career teaching Orientation & Mobility as well as Adaptive Daily living Skills to people of all ages with visual impairments.  Cris and her family had the unique opportunity to move to China for 4 years for her husband’s work.  While in China Cris discovered her love of teaching elementary school, where she would often substitute at a private American school.   Since returning from China, Cris has been an elementary school substitute teacher in El Dorado Hills for the past 5 years.

Tracie Hilliker

Tracie has been married to Matt for 24 years, and they the proud parents of two teenage sons. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development. Before starting a family, she worked as an educator. Tracie volunteers as a high school youth leader at her church. In her free time, she enjoys paddle boarding, hiking, swimming, scuba diving, coffee, and sushi.

Tracy Pipkin

Tracy has been married to Kevin for almost 29 years.  They have four children ages 24, 21, 21, 17 and a son-in-law now joins the mix.  Tracy has homeschooled all of her children through various stages of their education.  Currently, she works with Horizon Charter Schools and has been a Supervising Teacher with them for 10 years.  Tracy loves working with homeschooling families and helping them be successful on their homeschool adventure.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing cards with the family and scrapbooking.

Our Mission

Our mission is to serve and support homeschool and charter school families by organizing independent teachers to provide enrichment and tutoring services to home study students.

As a non-profit, public benefit corporation, the disinterest Board of Directors appointed Laurie Chiappe and Mary Frederick to collectively run the day-to-day operations of Foothill Learning Academy.
