Literature: Once Upon A Snack Time
Grades K-3
$195 per semester (1 voucher)
Children’s literature is so fun but what makes it even better is taking time to create the foods in our favorite stories. Each week we’ll read a new book and learn to make its corresponding food or dessert such as Stone Soup, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, Dragons Love Tacos and many others. Students will make their own recipe books, be introduced to grade-level vocabulary words, sight-word memorization and literature comprehension. This approach to reading creates cognitive synaptic connections by combining a tactile activity such as cooking with visual and audible instruction from the story-time.
This class promotes ELA State Standards which include comprehension collaboration, integration of knowledge ideas, and vocabulary acquisition use. This class is designed to change every semester so that students can take this course for 3 years without the literature repeating.
