About Foothill Learning Academy
Foothill Learning Academy is a nonprofit organization serving homeschool students and families through the organization of educational classes, enrichment opportunities, and community events. FLA is entering its tenth year as a nonprofit and its thirteenth year of operating a program for the homeschool community.
With approximately 800 students participating in FLA programs, the organization is seeking a highly organized and service-minded independent contractor to work alongside FLA co-founders and directors, Laurie Chiappe and Mary Frederick.
Position Overview
The Administrative Assistant contractor will provide administrative, registration, operational, and event support. Responsibilities will vary throughout the year based on registration periods, semester schedules, and community events.
Much of the work may be completed remotely and on a flexible schedule. However, attendance may be necessary at various events, including possible evenings and weekends.
FLA is seeking someone interested in growing with the organization. As FLA continues to expand, this position may offer opportunities to advance into a more senior administrative role with increased responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Administrative and Registration Support

Assist with student online registration, class rosters, waitlists, transfers, withdrawals, and class changes.

Perform accurate computer data entry and maintain organized student, family, vendor, and class records.

Assist with parent volunteer coordination

Assist with parent and vendor orientations

Help coordinate FLA logo wear sales and distribution.

Assist with snack cart purchasing, inventory, and organization.

Help identify administrative challenges and suggest practical solutions.

Maintain confidentiality and represent FLA professionally in all interactions.
Community Event Support

Assist with planning, organizing, promoting, and carrying out FLA events.

Help recruit, schedule, and communicate with parent and student volunteers.

Assist with event set-up, hospitality, supervision, clean-up, and follow-up.
Events and programs may include:

Junior high dances and high school prom

Musical theater productions
-
Annual Community Dinner & Basket Drawing

Science Fair and Art Show
-
Curriculum Swap
-
Parent and Vendor orientations
-
Other educational, social, and fundraising activities

Assist, as needed, with yearbook photo collection and distribution.

Experience with educational programs, student management, event coordination, volunteer management, or nonprofit organizations is preferred but not required.

Schedule and Practical Requirements
This is a year-round independent contractor position beginning September 10, 2026.
The workload will vary, with increased hours surrounding registration, the beginning and end of each semester, and community events.
The contractor must have reliable access to a computer, internet service, telephone, and transportation. The position may occasionally require travel between FLA locations, standing for extended periods, and lifting or transporting event supplies.
Ideal Candidate
