SOCIAL SCIENCE

Adventures Around the World

Grades K-3

Do you want your children to learn social studies in a new and exciting way  by having the experience of “visiting” other countries and learning about  their diverse and colorful cultures?

This semester we will be “visiting” the following fascinating countries: Poland, Mexico, Panama, Egypt, Portugal, Italy, the Philippines, and  Denmark. Each student will receive their own passport in which to write and draw about each other country that we “visit”.

In addition, students in my class will be watching videos, hearing folklore  stories, listening to music from each different country, doing art projects,  playing games, and participating in activities that help to foster kindness,  sharing, and a sense of community in our world.

One of the goals of social studies classes is to help children to learn how to  become citizens of the world. This class will teach your children how to do  that in a fun and relatable way.

Lessons will include the following fun activities: making cork dolls, a  “mermaid” art project, making and playing “Mancala”, learning a Portuguese folklore dance, playing the Egyptian “mummy” game, and much, much  more!
