I Want to be an Author: Book Creation

Grades 4-6, 6-8

$190 per semester

This is the class for you if you’ve ever wanted to learn about the process of creating a children’s book. This semester will be focused on creating a book specifically for children. No chapter books or novels this go around as there will not be time to finish in another semester of work. You will become a self-published author capable of selling your creation online if you so desire. Use of a laptop in class is acceptable (and will allow for more work to be completed in class) or work can be saved as homework to do at home. We will be working within a program called Canva for creating our written and illustrated works. We’ll walk through the steps of deciding what to write, ways to make your writing memorable, and how to publish it for the whole world, or maybe just your family to read.

NOTE: Students who participated in the first semester class, but did not finish their book are welcome to come and work on it more to make a complete project. Also, students who participated in the first semester are welcome to come and add to their series of books, or create something new.
